The short version

About Luna Park in Coney Island

Luna Park is Coney Island's main ride park, home of the 1927 Cyclone and the Thunderbolt, right on the boardwalk. Teens and coaster fans get the most out of it, and little kids have a Kiddie section. Entry is free, so you pay only for rides, starting at $4 each.

Little ways to save

  1. If you only want the Cyclone and a few rides, pay per ride. A wristband only pays off for a full afternoon of riding.

  2. Ride the subway. The D, F, N and Q trains end at Stillwell Avenue, a short walk away, and lots fill fast on summer weekends.

  3. Outside food is not allowed except baby food and formula. Budget for Nathan's or the park stands.

  4. Weekday afternoons in May, June and September have the shortest lines.
